Club Mistral Mauritius Overview

Club Mistral a licensed IKO and VDWS windsurfing and kitesurfing school as well as a porfessional rental centre stocking the latest equipment from Mistral, Fanatic, North Sails, North Kiteboarding is situated right on the beach at Le Morne next to the public beach in the best location for not only accessing the wind but also the famous wave spot of Manawa.

The centre is open all year round offering a range a watersports to suite all conditions.

Summer
Summer months run from December to April are generaly the lower wind months but some week can bring great conditions at a time when the spot is uncrowded. The summer is the cyclone season and the air circulation at this time is workings against the trade wind that normaly passes the spot at Le Morne from the South East.

If you surf then summer is your best option, the lower winds combined with great swells from the Indian Ocean open up a whole world of surfing possibilities from the house reef of Small Reef, One Eye (for experienced surfers) the Anchor acess by boat and a whole host of other spots. If the swell is big and South/South West Tamarin is working well with 3 spots offering a righ a left and a beachbreak.

Winter
Winter time is when the wind kicks in, the anti cyclone accelerates the trade winds and brings winds from 18-35 knots most days. Most windy months are July to November. July, August, October and November are the most crowded months here at Le Morne so pre booking early is strongly advised to avoid dissapointment.

Safety
Safety can be an issue especially on days when the swell passes from the South West, on these days breaking waves close the points in the reef where it is possible to access the sea behind the reefs by boat. Best advice is to read the spot guide on this website prior to going on the water and pass by the Club Mistral Centre for free advice and extra informations about the current weather conditions and forecasts it only takes a few minutes and the team will be more than happy to help you.
