WindHut Tuition Corner

Rider - Bob Hoekstra

Tips - Buzz

Overview. The idea of this move is that you step off your board, drag for a little while and then step back onto your board. This move is not actually a body drag it is more of a lower leg drag as you don’t want to go too low into the water.

  • Sailing at speed accross the wind
  • Head up wind slightly just before you step off
  • Step off with the front foot first and then the back
  • Try to pull down hard on your mast arm with a bent arm elbow pointing down towards the water, also trying to keep your chin over the boom
  • The mast foot preasure created by pulling down on the front hand bears the board away off the wind at the same time you sheet in
  • As you bear off the wind you will feel the sail power up, as it powers up let it pull you back up onto the board like a waterstart
  • Get back on your board back foot first and then front foot
  • Hook back in and sail away
