Buzz In Mauritus - First Post For Ages Sorry About That
Ok so what have I been up to. Well around 14th October I left my home in sunny Dahab for a posting to manage the Club Mistral at Le Morne in Mauritius.
It took me a while to make up my mind if I should come here or not for various reasons but in the end obviously I decided to give it a go. On arrival I had to endure a day at the hospital as the requirements for work permits here are quite strict so you get the full works, normal health check, blood tests, chest xrays etc etc won;t bore everyone too much with this but it takes a while, lots of waiting around and generally is a bit boring.
All good on that front not falling appart too badly at the moment appart from a bit of ligament damage here and there but heh thats life.
On Arrival shared a place with Felix who many people who have visited here the past few years will know, this lucky guy is now on a 3 month trip to WA then 1 month to Cape Town and now I have been here a little while I would say he definately earned it, and at this stage would like to extend to him a big hug and hope he is enjoying himself, ride a few more me captain my captain..
As you can probably guess from the fact that I am posting something I finally after quite a long wait have an internet connection at home “humdulila”.
Its not been easy leaving Dahab I miss Sveta, Onur, Said, Ahmed, Reda, Hafez, Jay, Toby, Yesh, Mahmood and all my other friends there so a big hug to all of them and I am thinking of you all.
Here is a fresh challenge, a new place new culture different and changeable sailing conditions, the possibility to surf and kite surf as well which is great although I did not find time to do that much yet I am hoping that now the low season is here I will get the chance a bit more often.
The island is absolutely beautiful and it is a welcome change to be somewhere green with rain every now and again. The waterfront is an absolute playground for windsurfing of all levels, kite surfing and surfing, although there are times where the conditions make it too dangerous to go out due to strong currents and adverse swell directions, never the less you can definatly have some of the best conditions to be found anywhere in the world here and this is just an incredible bonus to working here.
Anyways I will now try my best to add as many pics and videos of the place as I can so keep popping back every now and again you never know what you will find…
Best regards to all and happy windsurfing.
We hope to see you in Mauritius soon.
Best wishes and happy windsurfing.

Mistral Pacifico Stand Up Paddle Board 2 in 1 Fun 1
It seems the team at Mistral have been busy again developing this new two in one paddle board concept. From what I can see its an EVA deck board that you can put a sail on for some light wind fun, or use with no sail on both flat water and in waves as a stand up paddle board. COOOL!!
I could have done with one of these a few times sailing at Tide Mills in Seaford when the wind swings offshore and drops leaving some nice waves in the bay to play on. I reckon you could get a lot of use out of a board like this, plus I guess it has a fitness benefit as well. At least in terms of getting you on the water rather than eating pies and drinking coffee hehe

Mistral Sign Marcilio Browne From Brazil

Mistral have signed a new young team rider Marcilio Browne. I found an interview with Nik Baker, Mat Pritchard and Marcilio about his new deal with Mistral and Gaastra on boardseeker.com. From the pics I have seen this guy rips hard I expect we will all be seeing a lot more of him in the future.
Its great to see that windsurfing has a bright future with guys like Marcilio pushing the sport to new limits and keeping the interest in our beloved pastime alive.
If you haven’t tried windsurfing before you should definitely give it a go. Not only is it a great fun sport that helps keep you fit but its also a great lifestyle where you can make a lot of new friends, plus it gives you many excuses to travel the world to the many fantastic destinations offering perfect conditions to play in.
