Windsurfing Dahab 03-03-2007

Good wind today.. Rigged a 5.7 and took the Mistral Beast 84 out to the swell with Toby and Mike (one of our guests). It was a bit of a wobble out to the speedy but once around the corner planning started straight away.

It was a nice constant wind which kept the three of us outside for a good 2 hours or so. Not such big swell at the moment as the wind has been light the last few weeks but huzzzah it looks like its back for a while now.

Today I start a few weeks of moving around, leaving for the UK this afternoon for a few days of work and to see my Mum for her Birthday. Then off to Germany to the Club Mistral HQ for a quick meeting and on the Monday off to Morroco for the Manager Meeting so updates may be a bit few and far between, sorry about that.

I am hoping to get an hour or two on the water before I have to rush off to Sharm to catch the flight Inshallah the wind will play ball.

Best wishes and happy windsurfing.

Today in Dahab 13-02-2007

Posted by Buzz Tue, 13 Feb 2007 18:38:00 GMT

Not so much wind today but we all still managed to have some fun.

There was just enough wind to get a few lessons done this morning for beginners, harness one and kids.

The rest of the day was spent catching up on a few things around the centre. The guys rigged some more new North XTYPE sails 6.6 7.3 7.8 and 8.2 which we are getting great feedback on.

I went for a paddle around on an Ntrance with Ahmed and Reda, we are getting into the whole paddleboard concept Dahab style and a small Back Gammon Tournament kicked off in the chillout with some very competitive play taking place ending in a 3 - 3 draw between Ray and Svetlana.

I was donated some Hungarian shnaps yum which I have put in the fridge for tomorrow evening as its Olgas birthday.

Windsurfing Video from Club Mistral Dahab 10-02-2007

Posted by Buzz Sun, 11 Feb 2007 17:16:00 GMT

Available for download the 23 minute video clinic filmed with our guests 10-02-2007 its in wmv format and at 640x480 resolution so its quite big. Probably one to download overnight.

There are some good crashes and me showing that I really can’t do much with the wind from the left hehe. It was quite windy around force 6 but very gusty with a strange wind shadow infront of the platforms.

Maximum respect to all guests who sailed on it, hope you had a good time with us here in Dahab hope to see you all again very soon.

Enjoy..

Dahab A Windsurfing, Diving and Relaxation Paradise By The Red Sea

Picture of a Map Of Dahab (Masbat) Bay

The Club Mistral Teams Quick Guide To Masbat Bay

These past few days the wind has been low so as well as re varnishing our beautiful windsurfing school myself and the team have been updating our guest book. Svetlana re vamped the map of the bay and numbered a few of our favorite places as well as taking a few pics. Over the next few days I will update the site with some recent pics of these favorite places so you can see how the bay is developing and growing. Despite the problems last year the the people here remain optimisitic that Dahab will remain one of the most popular and relaxed windsurfing and diving spots in the world.

The past few months the bay has continued to be modernised but I am happy to say that it has retained much of its charm and is still a fantastic holiday destination.

Dahab itself is split into 3 main areas.

  • Dahab City and Lagoona - This area is where the larger Hotels such as the Hilton are situated along with all the windsurfing schools and some dive schools.
  • Masbat - The local village which is shown in the map. The village has many supermarkets, some like Ghazala selling a wide range of imported European products such as Nutella (yum) as well as many bazaars and restaurants.
  • Assala - The Bedouin village where you can find some amazingly quiet places to relax by the sea and local fruit, fish and meat markets.

There is something in Dahab for everyone and every budget and over the next few days I will endevour to give you a virtual view of the new Dahab.

All the best and happy windsurfing
