Few Pics From Small Reef Le Morne Mauritius 29-07-2009
Few pics from today which was a lot less stressful than yesturday when the hotel boathouse speedboat was flipped upside down in the waves while they tried to rescue a guest on the all inclusive windsurfing kit and their boat ran out of petrol eeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr can you imagine. So as normal the Club Mistral safety team went out and bought back them all back.
sorry about the quality of the pics the boat was moving around a bit and its only a small pocket camera but you’ll get the idea hehe.

Short windurfing video from Le Morne Mauritius of Tom riding One Eye on a pretty big day, we had a lot of current in the lagoon and no boat access to the outside through the reefs due to the wave size and direction.
In the end Tom was lucky he got washed on one wave and the Club Mistral safety team picked him after he had a bit of a hard washing.
Rippin Tom see you soon
Update from Le Morne Mauritius
Mixed weather rain, sun and waves but not much wind.
The last days have been a little bit frustrating, in complete contrast to a week or so ago when we had 25-35 knots every day an anti cyclone somewhere out near Madagascar has caused some pretty unsettled days with not much wind about at all. On the upside the waves have been quite good and in a good direction (SE) giving perfect surfing and SUP weather on the reefs around Le Morne.
We have been running regular surf trips out to Small Reef which people are enjoying greatly so no wind no problem.
For an overview of the wind the past days you can find all the info you need here as well as the webcam and the real wind from the day on the real time graph uploaded from the weather station at Le Morne.
Anyway the lack of wind and fully occupied guests out surfing has given me the time to add some more great value apartments, villas and studios to the site which you can find a list of i the villas and apartments section I still have a few more to put in as well as some ideas for excursions and other things you can do when you need to rest those tired muscles for half a day or so.
The outlook is not that bad especially for kiters and those of us who like to sail knee deep out on the reef taking some waves with a reasonable wind forecast around 4bft the next couple of days. Monday and Tuesday we will get very big swells but sadly from the South West which you will see in the spot guide is not ideal and can cause some pretty dangerous currents sucking out to sea with breaking waves it the passes between the reefs so if you are around Le Morne during this time please please take care and no matter how desperate you are to get outside the reef to the waves if the passes are closed DON’T GO!!!! it might not be possible to bring you back without a helicopter which takes almost 2 hours to get organised and down to the spot.
If your more into traditional surfing head over to Tamarin on these days it should be working well on big South West swell and there you have the choice of beach break, shallow tube reef break (a left) and a right on the other side of the bay.
Well thats it for today, more news soon from paradise.
Best wishes and happy windsurfing.
Site Updates
Wishing you all well from rainy Mauritius. I have had some time the past couple of days to add a few new pages and change a little bit of the look and feel of the site hope you like it.
Added Villas and Apartments section. There is currently only one property in there right now but it is a very nice three story block of brand new studios in La Gaulette only 3km from the spot at Le Morne so check it out.
I have around 10 more properties to add so keep checking back.
The Villas and Apartments section is basically aimed at helping independent travelers find a great value self catering place near the fantastic spot of Le Morne.
Best wishes and happy windsurfing
